Record Breaker

This week has been pretty much the busiest week of catching up with my love ones. It was a record breaker for me and my man as we were able to date 4 times in for one week. Monday to Wednesday for our pre, during and post Valentine’s celebration and this coming Saturday for our usual weekend rest and relaxation. I was also able to spend time with my friend Lady E for 2 days straight yesterday and today. After my quick lunch date with my man yesterday, I met up with Esther at Luk Yuen Glorietta 5. Supposedly she was to buy at Ipanema but the lines was crazy because of the sale. She accommodated me with my shopping errands instead.

Lately, I’ve been buying and craving for post it notes and stickers, I asked her to go with me to National Bookstore to check out what they have and I bought these (photo below).

I bought one for my sister and my personal use too, I thought it was post its but they are just literally note pads. I bought my shopping errands at the SM Makati Supermarket, but before going there we have to always pay a visit to Watson’s. She featured the steel hair facial remover in her blog and because I’m conscious about my lip hair, I bought one as well.

I invited her to my house for some ice cream, stupid of me to forget she’s lactose intolerant, gaaaah! On our way home, she asked if I wanted to go for a road trip with her the next day (today) and so we did. I’m curious about S&R’s pizza, as I’ve been hearing raves about it, lucky of me that Esther has a membership card (will blog about our food experience in my other blog). This time, we traveled by car, it was my first time to experience her driving skills. The first time I rode their car, it was MB who was driving Adam, yes, all cars must have names. Like my man, his car’s name is Exxia.

After lunch we went to Ayala Museum for some culture experience (thanks for the treat E). For Philippine citizens, it will only cost P225 from the first to the fourth floor and P175 for students. Of course the museum was filled with CCTV cameras, specially the fourth floor, as much as we wanted to take some ninja shots we couldn’t (as if anyone could). I’m keeping the ticket for memories, I keep all my memorabilia’s in my scrapbook journal. The last time I went to Ayala Museum was when I was a kid and on a field trip for that matter. At that age, you really can’t appreciate art nor our history. Going back at a more mature age, it’s worth going back and appreciating our roots.

I still had an urge to buy something, I can’t find anything that I wanted to buy from S&R or Watson’s (since I already went shopping the other day for our food and toiletrries at home). We went to Landmark to check out food for our babies (cats). And I found this (photo below).

A single bag of this costs (from what I can remember) is around P180+, I thought it costs the same and get one for free,when the cashier punched in the price it was around P280.25. My eyes went like O__O

Well, somehow I think it was still a pretty good deal as it will last me long (hopefully that is).

Weather report says low pressure area might turn to a storm, hopefully not this weekend please.

What boredom can do and something bought

What can boredom do? Well, yesterday I was just supposed to clean up my sheets because my very VERY good cat Rogue peed on my bed yet again. Since I was cleaning, I might as well (finally) fix my shelf and put my things, making my room (well almost) a cat haven. The huge shelf used to be a bookshelf but now the other half is piled up with my sisters old things. I cleaned the other half and here’s what it looks like now.

Top to bottom: Photos of me when I was younger, an old valentine gift from my BF (back when we were still students-LOL), A Hello Kitty shower gel from Lady E. Middle shelf, obviously, the things I love, books, cat things, make-up, skin care and gadgets.

Near the stuff toys are make-up cat ears, hello kitty and luna cap (from Stacy) and some skin care that can’t fit my other drawer.

The palettes – Sephora, hello kitty sephora limited edition pink brushes, UD palettes are bought from The Hyphen Store, the Stila is from mom.

Next of course are my gadget boxes, books and other whatnots for my journal…

And on other things, earlier today I did some usual shopping at Shopwise for our toilettries, here’s something new that I bought. I bought the careline just because I’m curious and it’s cheap anyway. A fellow blogger Midge mentioned to me about Garnier’s Pure Active Scrub, I’m curious about it as well. The Salon Mousse is really good for volumising, my sister and I have had and tried this and is our staple volumising spray.

A Double Whammy Celebration

In my other blog, I shared where my mom celebrated her Birthday. It was a first time for my sister Amanda and I to bring our significant other in mom’s party. And also the first time our men met (we’ve been wanting / planning to have a double date day, but it was pretty hard meeting our schedules so it was perfect timing too.

It was actually my brother’s birthday yesterday, double whammy celebration. February is sure a busy month for me, haha! The weather yesterday was kind of gloomy and rained quite hard last night which was really bad.

Gym Session on Weekends

Weekends, I’m pretty sure you all know already why this is my favorite day of the week. Anyway, last Saturday was my first time to go to a real gym. As you know, I’ve only been doing dancing and stationary biking at home, so yesterday was pretty interesting for the both of us. It’s much more fun exercising with your significant other, supporting each other instead of cheating your partner for a sexier man or woman. tsk.

As usual, food will always be a part of us but this time on a budget. You can check out what we had here. Since it was my first time going to the gym, I’m sure I looked pretty stupid going through the machines. My favorite is the abdominal equipment and the leg press but the leg press was a bit of a killer.

Glow in the dark

Hey everyone! Friday is here and I can’t wait for the weekend! Last night mom and I had dinner at Luk Yuen, after dinner we went to National bookstore to look for my nephew’s costume. I was supposed to buy more stickers for my journal but found something way cuter (haha).

Glow in the dark kitties, for almost a hundred pesos you are getting a lot, but for a serious cat lover like me, it’s not enough, LOL! More photos of the glow in the dark cats….

I bought a glow stick which comes in one color only, just because the line is really long. I really don’t like the layout of National bookstore in Cash and Carry specially the cashier in front, and my goodness they are so slow, considering the line last night they should be up their toes, knees and feet.

Pink Presents from my birthday

My friends know me well, that I love anything PINK and cats! And those are what I received in my birthday from 2 special women in my life, Stacy and Lady E.

I first opened E’s gift which consisted of Ferrero Chocolates, cats stickers, a cat planner, hello kitty pen, a pink pouch and a card. The pink pouch was from her mom.

Stacy gave me 2 gifts, a pink blanket and the other a 3 liters of cookies and cream overload ice cream.

Martin gave me 2 gifts as well a cake and my copy of ZsaZsa Zaturnnah book 2. Well technically, the comics is pink because she has pink/red hair. LOL!

That’s about it! Valentine’s is just a week away and I can’t wait!

Celebrating my 28th

Last weekend was a special day for me, February 5th! Well, my real birth date is kind of a long story, but I celebrated on February instead. I was able to spend time with my friends and family at home for my 28th year, yes I’m 28 and I don’t mind the numbers. Most of my friends are gamers, so it was a gaming party at my house.

Gamer girlfriend + Advanced birthday surprise and CATS!

I always look forward to weekends, Saturday’s spent with my man, it was our regular RnR at his place for a gaming session. He actually let me try Demon Souls and Amalur: Reckoning, you see my BF is a hardcore gamer/ gamer geek and recently in his Facebook status updates is mostly about his gaming journey with Demon Souls, how freaking hard the game is and I was able to experience it myself and now I understand his “frustration”. First of all, the controls are different, you will be using the L and R button’s for attacking or defense, and then the d pad to switch equipments /skills and potion and then the analog stick to move. It was overwhelming and hard! Let me rephrase that, it will eat your soullllllll! (haha). Not to brag or anything, my BF’s best friend Jon only lasted a minute, I for one lasted an hour. So it’s not that bad considering it’s my first time. My class is Royalty, which both uses magic and long rage weapons.

What I love about these kinds of games is customization, here’s how my character in Demon Soul’s look like (see photo below).

Pretty plane jane right? All through out the game I kept screaming like a scaredy cat and told Martin that I wanted to rest for a while. He recommended that I try Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, which I enjoyed more over Demon Souls and also because my character looks way better (hehe). See photo below

I think Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is the game for me, it’s much more light hearted and slightly plays the same as Demon Souls only easier. This is just the demo only, release of the game will be sometime in February for PS3. I played almost the whole afternoon, and after that we were able to catch Sherlock Holmes on HBO.

For lunch, I cooked burger patties, luncheon meat and egg sarciado (no photos sorry), unfortunately, the burger patties was burned (almost charcoal like – haha), the fire was to high and I did not set it on low. My man kept on complaining about the patties (sorry babe, next time will make better patties for you), but at least the saving grace was the egg. We tried a new drink stall at a nearby grocery which I will be posting in my other blog. Before heading home, I was caught of guard by his advance birthday gift which was really sweet of him.

Someone was extravagant that day (thanks love!), will make a review of this sometime this week. And while I was taking a photo, this cat always wants to be the star (see photo below).

Martin has a very, VERY noisy cat named Tigger…..

We both had a blast and missed each other dearly, I can’t wait to spend time with him again this weekend!

Girl Bonding + My first sauna experience

Before this week ends, I am eager to post my girl bonding with my dearest friend Stacy. She accompanied me to Quezon City last Tuesday and after my meeting she insisted that I stay over at her house to hang out, it’s been a while since we last saw each other.

It was my first time to visit her lovely home and it was really unique, it reminds me of Tagaytay, the stairs was something (I didn’t take a picture of it since, I didn’t want to invade her privacy). We had lunch first cooked by her mom (which I will be posting in my other blog). Anyway, it was pretty neat that she has her very own sauna and jacuzzi at home, I asked permission if I can take pictures and she obliged. It was also my first time to try it and after experiencing it, I felt so relaxed and stress free. My skin also felt so good and my face didn’t oil up that much that day. WOW! (hehe)

The Sauna room, I challenged myself to try it for 1 hour (but lasted for 35minutes), at first it wasn’t that hot, that I mocked it –Lol! Time passed I noticed that I was really perspiring a lot, I mean sweating buckets and dripping down the floor. Oh and I can’t get over her cat named Midnight, who joined me inside, I was like O__O

Midnight stayed for around less than 5mins inside, haha! I wish I was able to take a photo but I’m pretty sure it might get destroyed if I bring it with me inside. A book and the cat kept me company. Stacy prepared the jacuzzi for me and after I finished inside the sauna, look who was checking out the jacuzzi…..

Stacy and I spent the whole day together, it was also a food trip journey which I will be posting next in the other blog. I really had fun that day and next time make sure to take photos of us together, hehe.

DOVE shampoo + NIVEA Lip balm

Hello guys, I’m back from my regular programming. I’ve been recently posting about my travel and food adventure in my other blog, I hope you guys check it out.

In other news, during my travel to Catanduanes here, here and here I saw in one sari-sari store selling sachets of the new DOVE shampoo. I wanted to buy it but it was raining buckets and I was still coughing really bad. Our tour guide Juriz said that she has a friend working for Unilever, and the DOVE shampoo is the competition of L’oreal. Arriving in Manila, I went to Shopwise to see if they already have it and they do. At first they didn’t have it in sachets yet, I was able to buy one at Gateway with my best friend Stacy.

My regular shampoo that I use is Sunsilk in pink, I like how it feels specially when I use a conditioner after. But with no conditioner alone, my hair feels heavy. Regardless, I still love it because it smells good in my hair and the scent lasts.

Because I’m a sucker for new things, I decided to try out DOVE, the DOVE soap is already a given, I just wonder if the shampoo is as good as the soap. First day I tried it, consistency wise is very creamy and it had pearly shimmers. The scent is good too. And surprisingly, even without using conditioner, it is easy combing my wet hair. But that’s just the first day of use, I will do a “7 day challenge” or until I finish the 2 sachets I bought. The Straight and Silky smells good too, not overpowering. The sachet costs P27 and the conditioner P33

A beauty junkie will always be one where ever she goes, and while I was in a far place, I needed to go to a drugstore because I forgot to bring my facial wash. I’m intrigued with NIVEA’s lip balm so I bought one.

I thought my HG (holy grail) lip balm is the Lip Ice, but lip ice makes my lips dry most of the time and it costs P129.75 while NIVEA costs only at P80, very cheap and much more moisturizing.

It actually looks more pinkish in person, I really love this lip balm and I’m getting the other variants or more of the same color. hehe~

NO TO SOPA/PIPA: Spread the word!

It’s a bill from the states, if this so called bill becomes a new standard for internet laws, most likely the Philippines will adopt the very same law. Which will gravely affect everyone especially BLOGGERS. Here’s a quick summary of SOPA’s restrictions:

1. Free Speech Rights Will Be Censored - Meaning you can't just post a blog of what you feel, what you want to say, specially against companies. If you do, they will shut down your blog permanently

2. Online Album Sites Will Shut Down - SOPA may force album sites such as Etsy, Flickr and Vimeo to shut down. These sites have no way of knowing at this point which albums or photos are copyrighted.

3. Social Media Held Accountable - Social Media sites such as Facebook will be held accountable for every copyright violation that their users commit. These sites will now be forced to proactively censor user content. Meaning you can't just post whatever you like on FB and other social media sites.

4. Streaming Sites Will Be Penalized - YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and similar sites that host user content can be criminalized, because SOPA fails to distinguish between commercial and non-commercial conduct. Due to the lack of concrete definitions, SOPA can criminalize conduct that is actually permissible under current law.

5. Browser Ability To Generate Fair Links Will Be Impacted - This means that users will not be able to search for the content they want.

And those are just a few, this is bad and actually scary if this pushes through. Help spread the word and say NO TO SOPA/PIPA!

Quickly

First it was the Frappuccino craze, and then there was tea! But among all those new drinks popping out, there is still one drink that has been enchanting and fulfilling my drink craze time and again…. QUICKLY please!

I remember back then when I was in high school or elementary in St. Scholastica’s College, there used to be a Quickly restaurant near our school. They also have food items there and my sister and I usually have our dinner there after school. Now, it seems that Quickly is just a drink stall in most malls. Quickly was brought here from Taiwan.

This is one healthy beverage that I keep coming back to. I specifically love their Taro, well it’s the only item in the menu that I always order.

And for our orders, as usual the boyfriend ordered Choco Loco with extra chocolate syrup and I had the Taro pudding. So refreshingly good! This is my ultimately favorite drink.

It’s actually weird that Taro as a drink can be good, who would’ve thought. I love their puddings as well, even the chocolate pudding.

Weekend Food trip

It’s always a treat when my Man and I go food tripping on weekends. Aside from spending some quality time, we put our sleeves up and critique’ the food we eat. Food is a serious business, LOL! Last Friday, we met up to watch Sherlock Holmes at Walter Mart (Chino Roces, near Don Bosco). Just to compare which has the better cinema between Cash and Carry and Walter Mart. We were happy that both has Tater’s in their cinema’s, but the one at Walter has a very slow system. We availed of the Major league combo and upsized our drinks to 22 oz for P10 each.

Overall, Cash and Carry is way better than Walter, Hygienic wise. The cinema was cold at Walter but they didn’t have any drink holder which is a hassle (don’t you agree?). It’s an essential for all movie goers. The bathroom too was a bit dirty to start of with which is a turn off.

Yesterday we were at Makati, we met up around after lunch and headed to Parksquare. We ate at Food Choices, for our breakfast/lunch/merienda. Martin bought his food at Go Greek, and I went back to Kim n’ Chi because I’m craving for ramen (yet again). I tried their Mandu Ramen (original) and for our drinks we had cold buko juice – yum.

He availed of his free hummus with pita bread. We both love hummus!

I went for the Mandu at Kim n’ Chi and it costs P119 only for a big bowl. This order was better than the seafood ramen if only they could add more gyoza and if only it was not soft too soft. But nevertheless, I loved it. The broth is really good and good thing, I didn’t go with the spicy version. It was a little bit spicy to start of with. And surprisingly there were a lot of noodles. The gyoza was a little bit small but it was decent.

We had a very late dinner and we were supposed to eat at Subway, but he promised that we will eat there when I get back from my vacation next week. I will be going out of town for a couple of days.

I had a small meal of fillet-o-fish and coke light to wash it all down, Martin had the big mac. We were supposed to drink some booze (Tanduay ice – red mirage) but we were both weirdly feeling sick already. We called it a night, but it was definitely a fun and sweet date with my man.

Tech talk: Android Apps–NOOM

I’ve been recently raving about NOOM – a health fitness application. I first tried out Calorie Counter but found NOOM to be much better. I love the workout feature where it counts the actual calories lost when you do a certain exercise, like biking, stationary biking, dancing, etc.

Unlike Calorie Counter for you to use the app, you need an internet connect. As for NOOM, if you just plan to workout, you don’t need a connection as it will automatically log in your numbers.

Everyday, NOOM gives you a goal for you to achieve, but if you want to see or complete the whole goals and unlock an achievement or something, you have to pay for it. But don’t worry, because even the free version is still very much helpful.

You need an internet connection for the NOOM coach and the forums.

My history profile

This is my workout session, my favorite part. I have an old stationary bike that has no time count, and having this feature is pretty convenient as it records your time and calories lost. It also motivates me more to stay longer. While exercising you can also listen to music if you opt to. Even if your biking, and decide to surf the net on your phone it will still continue to record your details. It also has a VO (voice over).

I know how hard it is to make an app, since my man is also in the business. But it would be nice, if they can log in a more detailed food description. Like maybe include different dishes all over the world, Pinoy food perhaps?

Logging in your food intake is a fun feature too as it counts and guides you in the amount of calories of food you take.

I’m definitely happy about this health application, hopefully they will have a new update in the future but in the mean time, this is my work out buddy at home. All I need to get is a measuring scale, hopefully by next week I can get one.

I haven’t lost weight that much yet, but definitely I feel much better and that is a good start. I measured myself and my next measurement to see if there’s any change would be by the end of the month.

Random Thursday + CATS

Random Thursday is how I can describe my day yesterday! First, mom accompanied me to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned. You see, my pain tolerance is bad, the dentist was good and had light hands, it’s just me really who has a problem. Who knows anyone who cries just having their teeth cleaned? Egad, I wanted the earth to eat me up that moment.

But it was worth the pain and shame, super clean teeth. haha

Every time I go to mom’s office, I feel bad for her Leica digital camera. It fell on the sea in Batanes in one of her trips, now it’s useless and just on display :(

Finally it was time to go home. I was having a bad headache the whole time, and I was happy to have received my prize from my cat lover friend Kate, thank you so much :)

It was Kate’s cat’s birthday, his name is Nugget. It was a fun cat birthday contest and I chose prize number 2. The blue wallet with the face of the cat is a key holder. And while I was taking pictures, my nephew Tyler was with me asking me to help him with his homework. He lied down in my bed, and look at where tabby decides to stay. Like seriously Tabby?

Food review: Taclings!

I’ve always been curious about the food stalls along the hallways of SM Makati. It was the Christmas shopping rush and Martin and I were so hungry and decided to have some appetizer. I bought us Taclings! I always see these small taco’s at Banchetto when it was still in Emerald Oritgas. This costs only P50 each, just choose from beef or tuna filling. I chose the tuna and my man chose beef.

It’s served in egg carts. The shells were good, a bit makunat and crunchy at the same time. My tuna taclings does taste like tuna, Martin tried mine to compare and said the beef tasted better. Men and meat, enough said! haha!

The Taclings was okay, it would be better if the shells were freshly cooked but then again, for P50 bucks with 6 pieces of small taco’s, it’s not that bad really. I would go back to try the beef next time. The malunggay shell was good, well, anything fried is good right? Hehe.

Food review: Bar-B-King

Food tripping with my man is always fun! We rarely eat at expensive restaurants these days so our mantra is to scout for cheap but really good food. When we are in Makati, we either eat at Food choices or SM Makati food court. Last month (yes, this is a back log post) Martin and I ate at Bar-B-King again. He said that their barbecue now tastes much more yummy and 2 pcs of pork barbecue with java rice costs only P100 (no drinks).

When I first took a bite, I was impressed that It was good. Soft and juicy because of the sauce. Later on, I was telling Martin “babe, the sauce reminds me of a place I’ve eaten when I was a kid.” I kept thinking and thinking and then I remembered! The sauce tastes so much like Rack’s smoked beans! There used to be a branch near Greenbelt 1, beside a village along Pasay Road I think. It tasted exactly like it. It was like the scene in Ratataouille, when Anton Ego took a bite of the Ratatouille and remembered his childhood.

The java rice is simple, but since the barbecue is full of flavor already because of the sauce, it would be too overpowering if the rice was much more flavorful. It compliments it well. I saw one of the ladies behind the counter, the sauce came in a silver pouch. I’m not sure if they make their own or they buy it somewhere.

Take a Whiff: Her Bench body spray–Tickled in Pink

I’m currently loving the body spray from Her bench, Tickled in pink! I bought this at Shopwise for P120.95. It was my sister who introduced me to Her Bench body spray’s. I was actually planning to buy the So In Love, but it was only the Tickled in pink that was available at that time. The scent surprisingly lingers until the end of the day and it somehow reminds me of the Juicy Couture perfume.

This is definitely my go to cheap body spray, cheap but smells good, importantly it smells feminine.

Date on a Monday

Having meals is best when together with family, friends or even your significant other. Last night, my Martin and I met up at Walter Mart to have dinner. He was gone for a few days from his Singapore trip and he was so sweet to have bought me pasalubong. For our food options, we were thinking of whether to eat at Mongolian grill or Karate kid, but because I was craving for Ramen, Karate kid it was. I’ve already dined here a couple of times and one of my staple orders is always Tofu Furai or Fish Katsu. I was disappointed with their beef ramen, so this time I was risky to try their Tempura miso ramen. I would’ve opted for the fish katsu but I didn’t want to eat rice that time.

Comparing this with the Beef ramen, this was better in terms of taste. The shrimp tempura was thin, and the were not much noodles to slurp on. It also had one piece of hard boiled egg. The broth is what made me super full. I’ve been lately having this ramen craving for the past few weeks already. On other things that we ordered, Martin had pork tonkatsu and 4 pcs. California maki, and my appetizer was tofu furai 5 pcs for P50 something.

The prices at Karate Kid are pretty reasonable as compared to Tokyo Tokyo, what keeps me coming back is for their tofu furai. It’s very light and I like their breading too.

I almost forgot that Martin has pasalubong for me, I was just happy to see him that day. And when he handed it to me, I couldn’t wait to see what’s inside.

He got me running shoes! Now we can go jogging!

And some chocolate, I’m not a dark chocolate fan, good thing it had some peanut butter cups. My fave! Thanks babe <3

Games can be a source of entertainment, stress reliever and for some a fun way to exercise! My Martin lent me his Nintendo Wii because he rarely uses it, he’s also very supportive of me losing weight which is the real reason why he lent me the Wii. So I can just dance, to Just Dance (game) LOL!

It’s not just because it’s the New year that I’ve decided to seriously lose weight but more of long term reasons and what girlfriend doesn’t want to look good for their significant other right? I also downloaded an app for the android called the Calorie Counter, which basically measures the amount of calories lost when you do a certain exercise. It also measures the calorie intake of your food. I will probably blog about that app soon. Anyhoo, going back to the Wii, is my daily workout. I’ve played all of the songs already and I really wish my man can find a copy of the Just Dance 3, so far the only copies sold are for the Xbox, BOOO!

Kitten dances to S.O.S

With the Wii sensor, it can sense your moves, in closed doors I really do the whole shebang which is a great workout for me. The thing with this is that it’s not that accurate in the whole body movement which makes it easy. The BF told me that the PS3 Move is much more accurate and you really have to do the whole dance moves or else it won’t mimick your move at all.

Other than that, the Wii version is good for parties or as your workout system. The Just Dance 2 has around 30 plus songs like, Crazy in Love, S.O.S to name a few. I’m pretty sure I look silly dancing, but hey! who cares! lol~

Home cooking: Pork Cutlet steak

Thinking of recipes for the household is the hardest. I was pressured because of the time, I needed to cook something fast but good at the same time for my family. I decided to make pork cutlet steak. I bought the meat at Shopwise, 1 kilo costs P235 pork cutlet.

Ingredients used where:

1 kilo pork cutlet
onion and garlic
herbs – oregano
salt and pepper to taste
soysauce
pineapple bits and the syruo as well
red bell pepper
butter
sugar

Here’s how it looked like. My nephew enjoyed it a lot and sister said it tasted gourmet because of the herbs. Presentation wise, it doesn’t look appealing, haha!

I didn’t have time to marinate the meat, but the cutlet was thin enough to start of with so it wasn’t tough with only 45 minutes of cooking.

Along with my shopping, I bought Carb trim, just to try it out. It’s pricey for a one piece sachet that costs P25.00 only. Having tried it, it’s like a love and hate thing. I hate that it tastes like grass (damo), which is the after taste. Love because the first taste is quite good.

I just wonder if it’s really effective in absorbing carbs. Anyone tried it?

Kim n’ Chi + Cucina Spanish food

A few days ago, my man and 2 of our friends were supposed to meet up for a catch up date before he would leave for Singapore. It’s not permanent though he’ll be back after a week, and I will definitely miss him a lot. One of our friends (Stacy) wasn’t able to make it due to unfortunate events. So it was just me, Martin and Che.

I’ve been seeing Kim n’ Chi since it opened but never attempted to try it. But this time, because I was craving for Ramen, I tried their spicy seafood ramyon. The price is pretty reasonable and they didn’t skimp on the seafood as well. My total bill cost me around P150 or less I think or maybe less than P200 (back log post sorry). Upon ordering, you will be given a disk, just like the one in Happy Lemon.

On to the food…

Seafood Ramyon

The seafood ramyon was / is good. and it didn’t take long for them to serve it. It had shrimps, mussels and squid. The noodles were ordinary, but nothing a ramen craving would disappoint. The soup was good too until the very last drop. This is what I had for dinner and it was very filling. I saw a few customers enjoy the other items in their menu, but I’m still not that convinced to try them yet. But most of their prices are pretty reasonable. I’m craving for ramen again, but next time, I will try the less spicy version.

We were seated in front of the House of Minis and and beside that is Cucina, a Spanish food joint. It was Martin’s second time to try and I was a bit jealous of his sparerib steak. It falls of the bone and the sauce was yummy. Che also ordered from the same place. She had the grilled chicken something (picture below).

All photos were taken with my samsung ace phone. It was a short catch up date and we were still sad that Stacy wasn’t able to go, hopefully next time we’d be complete. We still enjoyed Che’s company, though I wasn’t able to take a group photo.

I miss my Martin already, and I can’t wait to see him next week after his trip~

A pink themed gift and random shopping

I received another package/gift yesterday from another blogger friend, who has always been generous and thoughtful. We rarely see each other these days, but I promised her that I soon as I have work again, I’ll treat her out. Anyway, thank you dear Lady E for the sweet and the BESTEST gift ever, here’s why.

Another addition to my Hello Kitty collection! And a pink one! How cute is that? It’s a small HK stuff toy. Thank you E!

Now, thing is, my man bought me a bunny stuff toy last year, and I keep it in my drawer. My friend John, gifted me a KOR water bottle and I haven’t even used it yet and is still in the plastic that it came with. And now, Lady E giving me a Hello kitty stuff toy and It’s just in my drawer too. Haha! I’m OC like that, that I don’t like my nice / memorable things getting dirty, LOL!

On other things, I went shopping with my sister early this afternoon for our toilettries and food. I bought the usual basic stuff like shampoo, soap, etc. Here a few things that I bought (It’s nothing new, but I just want to share a few items with you). Also on the food part, I cooked dinner for my family, will make a separate blog post for that.

Skin care: Celeteque Brightening facial wash

Pictures sometimes can be deceiving, my skin can look like it’s smooth but it’s not so much. Aside from having oily skin (face), one of the consultants at Clinique during Lady E’s birthday party mentioned that my skin easily (upon cleansing) gets acidic (red/dark). That always happens right after I wash my face with my preferred facial wash. I did some research and found out about Celeteque’s brightening facial wash (crossing my fingers that it would work). And no kiss ass testament, it DOES work!

My skin appears bright and it helps control the red blotches, which I am very happy about.

The 75ml bottle costs P150. Next time I will buy the Tri benefit cream which costs P599 and the Dark spot corrector at P349.

I’m really happy about this product, simply because it does it job for my skin problem. It is the answer to my prayers. I already raved about their Oil control toner. Which I’m currently using and will most probably be a staple in my skin care regimen. Thank you Celeteque for creating this product! I’m a convert! I promise (hopefully) sometime around this year, I will have a giveaway and this will definitely be included.

Sisterly love and Made up Hair styles

Good morning my dear readers! I have a series of posts coming up, but for today, let me share with you a post about hair styles and sisterly bonding. My sister Amanda and I are the closest among our other siblings, being the closest we can be bad enemies too, haha! We’ve fought a lot when we were younger, but one of our major arguments was a year ago. It was almost a year of no talking and me swearing to never let her in my life anymore. It was on her birthday that we said sorry and promised not to fight ever again. Ever since, we became much more close than ever.

She’s 20 years old, but I still see her as my 15 year old little sister. She’s my little fashionista and hair stylist. There was one time that she wanted to play with my hair and here’s what happened:

And recently, when we went to Taal, dear sister taught me a new do. It was hot and I asked her to tie my hair. I seriously don’t know where she gets these ideas, but regardless it’s fun and I love it!

Dining at Villa Tortuga, Taal Batangas

Here is my food trip journey during our Taal trip. In my previous post where we wore beautiful clothes designed by Lito Perez, was the place where we had lunch. I was already starving at that time and was only able to take photos of the food and the dining table. Villa Tortuga is a beautiful well restored house of the Spanish Era.

We were served with beautiful china plates, first dish that came was the Malunggay soup, that had bits of meat and some misua noodles. I liked how it tasted and that it wasn’t just pure Malunggay.

This is Tapang Batangas, at first I thought it was dry and tough, but I was wrong. This was so good, now I know why some people travel here just to buy tapa or meat.

This is my favorite among the other main dishes served. It was my first time to try adobong dilaw. The turmeric flavor was really good and made it unique. You can barely taste the ice cream which is good.

For dessert we had suman with hot chocoloate (cocoa). It was heavenly, regardless the calories! haha

I wasn’t able to take photos of the other food that were served, but everything about it so Pinoy! Dining at the place takes you back to how Filipinos lived and ate. It was a fun trip that I would gladly go back to.

Travelling back to History–Taal Heritage Photo Trek

I recently joined my mom’s Taal-Heritage Photo Trek trip a few days ago and I was impressed that Taal has so much to offer, being abundantly rich of our Philippine history.

This will be part 1 of sceneries around Taal that we visited. We first met with the other participants in mom’s office at LRI Design Plaza, it took us 3 hours to arrive at our first destination – Basilica

The Basilica is composed of 4 churches and is the largest in Asia.

I forgot the name of the house adjacent to the Basilica, but the preserved home was filled with artifacts and old furnitures.

This is a naturally mummified cat found at the roof upon rebuilding the ancestral house.

Our third destination was at Villa Tortuga, designer Lito Perez. This was a unique experience because you can get to play dress up and have your photo taken with Lito Perez

After having our photo taken, we were served lunch at the second floor. I will be making a separate food post for that.

This was our second to the last destination, I was already exhausted by this time because it was super hot (and I hated it). Had I known that it would be hot, I would’ve brought an umbrella. I forgot the name of the place, but the arch was really beautiful. We were swarmed with little kids and some adults selling candles for P20 pesos. It represents a family, which is why the candles are tied up together.

Among all our destinations, the last place was my most favorite. It’s a camera museum filled with old camera’s and photos of the old Manila.

One of the prized possessions of the owner is this NIKON FA Gold camera, it was pretty awesome and was eye candy to every camera lover/enthusiast like me.

Taal was surrounded with beautiful old houses and there were a lot of Churches. One of our participants said that, if you want to have a glimpse of our Philippine history but don’t want to travel that far? Taal is your best bet.

Tech talk: CD-R King Wireless router review

My man is the type who likes giving gifts that would serve a purpose for long term. I wanted a play dough cake maker and I thought, he’d get me that – hehe. But he said, when I’m done with the play dough, what’s next? And with that, he gifted me a router instead. Nonetheless, I love it! I can download apps non stop.

This is a very basic router that has an internal antenna. We used to have a router, but it didn’t last because first, my sister kept removing the ethernet cable from the router, because she says the connection got slower. The problem was, I did not set up the wireless connection to private, which I’m pretty sure the neighbors were also trying to connect to. Anyway, inside the box are the following:

Here’s how it looks like when installed…

Now that part is easy, I told my BF that I want our connection to be exclusively ours only, and he said that it is a bit tricky since I would have to use the MAC filtering system instead of the password system, since it can be easily hacked.

First thing to do is to get the IP address of the wireless router, which can be seen at the back of the router.

Step 1: Copy the IP address and open a browser. You will automatically be directed to the CD-R king site.

You can basically choose how to set up your wireless router. I prefer the MAC filtering system, which will allow only those listed in the filter to connect to the wifi. Those who will try to connect will automatically be blocked. For MAC filtering here’s step 2.

Step 2: There are options on the left side (sorry, I couldn’t get a print screen out of it, but it’s fairly easy to find).

Go to the Firewall option and click on the MAC filtering, from there all you have to do is list down the MAC addresses of your gadgets

Step 3: Click the wireless option and under that click the access control. This will give you the list and control the people who will try to connect. Choose the allow listed option and then list down again the MAC addresses. \

And that’s it! In fairness, the connection is pretty fast, although there are a few (rare) instances that the connection is bad. Now my only wish is that this router will last me a long time. Considering the brand, there are possibilities that it might get busted.

New things before the year ends: A pink haul

Last Friday, I went shopping for my usual basic needs and the next day mom bought me new set of clothes. As I was taking pictures, I just realized that everything was in color pink. Why you ask? refer to photo below.

I bought the basic stuff like soap and etc and didn’t include that in the photo anymore. Finally, I was able to buy the Celeteque brightening facial wash and the Pure beauty cleansing water. I also bought the pure beauty remoisturising night cream. Will make a review of the 3 mentioned products soon. I bought the skin care products at Watson’s SM Makati.

For the clothes here’s what I got, their not fashion statement really, but that’s my style. The GC and these clothes are mom’s gift.

My Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone, it’s the Christmas season and I’m sure everyone was busy preparing or meeting up with relatives during the weekend. I was also pretty much tied up as well.

On the 23rd, I attended my man’s company party at their office. I was only able to take photos of the food. I had fun in the party, there were games and a lot of people came that day. After the party, it was pretty exhausting because my boyfriend was the host, we spent the whole night at Glorietta to shop for my things, have dinner and coffee. We also exchanged gifts since we won’t be able to spend Christmas together.

On the 24th, I woke up really early and had 6 hours of sleep. My mom asked me to go with her to Quiapo to buy some food, but we first went to her brother’s house near ours (somewhere in Bagtikan, Makati). Eventually, it was almost lunch time when we left, thankfully mom decided to just buy our things at Landmark Makati. My sister arrived from her date around 5pm, we were already preparing and she was just in time to help out. We had a lot of food, here’s what happened during our pre Christmas dinner.

The wines were being placed on the table, our favorite among them all was the ice wine vidal and Chateu de Surville 2007. The ice wine vidal was a dessert wine, it was so good, that we wished we had more of it. The Chateu when mixed with the fruit cocktail syrup was good too, almost like a substitute of the dessert wine.

While waiting for 12am, Christmas day, my sister and I (as usual) shared stories and our inside jokes and drank a lot of wine. My brother was playing DOTA the whole time (enjoying his short vacation).

And finally, it was time to open our Christmas presents. I already opened my man’s present for me the day we met, yes we were both too excited to wait for Christmas day. I will make a separate post for that.

We slept past 12 midnight, the next day, my mom and younger siblings and I first attended worship at Bread, Greenbelt 1. The discussion was timely, as the pastor talked about: “What is Christmas?”

We went home after to wait for our other sister and her kids to have lunch at our house. After that, we went back to Greenbelt 1 to watch Shake Rattle and Roll.

My sister had to go to National bookstore to buy something and I saw really cute cat post it’s.

My weekend was tiring, but I still had fun spending time with my family and Martin. Christmas, is not about what present made you the happiest, for it is only material. I’m not preaching that it’s bad, for it’s hypocritical of me to say that I don’t enjoy gifts. But this link really ticked me off, how materialistic some people are. Complaining that they didn’t get a 4S or a car, sheessh! Or about the CBS news on the launch of the limited edition Jordan air shoes. People will kill just to get a pair of shoes. I hope I can spend my life everyday 24/7 and 365 days a year like it’s Christmas, to love and give.

Anyway, I hope you all was able to spend Christmas with your loved ones. Merry Christmas :)

Tech talk: Hyundai LCD TV

During our search for a 32 inch LCD TV last week in SM Makati, my man and I passed through a brand that is now joining the LCD/LED TV bandwagon – Hyundai, not only do they make cars, they are now into flat screen television as well. Fairly new to the market, there are consumers that would think twice before buying the product. I can’t remember how much the prices were, so I will have to update this post regarding that matter.

We now have the Hyundai LCD tv 19” and here are a few of my initial impressions (I haven’t had much time tinkering around). But here are photos for you to see how it looks.

The edges are plastic-y, nothing really great about it and it’s not as sleek as the Devant we have. We are subscribed to Destiny cable and currently their signal is bad, you can actually see how bad it is.

The House of Wagyu at The Podium

I had another rendezvous at The House of Wagyu, but this time at the Podium Ortigas branch. The first time I was able to try steak was at Melo’s, but it was a different dining experience that happened a long time ago. Melo’s is already a pioneer in the business.

The House of Wagyu is owned and operated by Theresa, a fine dining restaurant with 3 branches located at Greenhills, Podium and Eastwood. My first wagyu stone grill experience was at the Greenhills branch. And so yesterday was another mouth watering experience for me. The Podium branch can be found at the 5th floor near Kimono Ken. It has a 50 seater capacity and their peak days are during Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

The staff are very friendly and we were well taken cared of. Special mention to their manager in charge, Christian.

For our drinks, mom and I ordered Ice tea, nothing really special but this is our holy drink whenever we dine outside.

They serve complimentary bread with butter. But they offered to give us a variety of dips to choose from. Balsamic vinegar, olive oil and cheese.

For our appetizer we had the Gambas…

This dish was nothing special, plated simply with fresh shrimp sauteed with olive oil and fried garlic. The freshness of the shrimp was a delight.

For this dish, I enjoyed it’s creamy-ness and the croutons added texture in the soup. You can actually taste the peas, but it is not overpowering.

Rib Eye

When you order Wagyu, it comes with mashed potatoes and veggies. I noticed that the plate is smaller compared to the Greenhills branch, but it’s not an issue really. You can actually see the smoke in the photo. Before they serve this, the waiters put on your apron as the stone really sizzles and eventually, I still ended up smelling like steak and so did my bag. What’s unique about Stone grill is they serve the aged meat raw. After 30 seconds, the waiters assist you in turning the meat over. After such, you can now cook it to your own doneness. You can see that wonderful fat marbling which makes the steak really juicy and mouthwatering.

I love how they cook their veggies, their mashed potatoes is creamy which I loved too.

Upon finishing our main dish, they always give out this special towel. It increases in size once you pour in hot water. It’s called an aqua towel.

Next up was dessert, they served Chocolate something cake with vanilla ice cream. I think they always serve their cakes with ice cream. I’m not a fan of chocolate or chocolate cake, except if it is chocolate mousse. But for this dessert, it was exceptional. The cakes consistency is really moist (almost mousse like) and rich, which I always look for in a cake.

I like the idea of cooking your own food, which adds fun in your dining experience here at The House of Wagyu. To define my thoughts about our appetizer and salad, they may not have left me a lasting impression, but it is something that you wouldn’t say that “I wish I hadn’t ordered that”. They were good, and what’s important is that they taste how they should be. Really, the reason why you dine in at HOW (The House of Wagyu) is for their steaks. By the way, they also have a bar station.

Steaks like these don’t come cheap, but since it’s Christmas they offer a 25% off discount for their Rib Eye, grade 7,8 and 9 until December 31, 2011 in all 3 branches.

The staff were all accommodating and very friendly, but special mention to the Manager in charge, Christian for taking care of us and letting me take photos of the place. My mom says, the reason why the Podium branch is full is because of his looks. LOL~

Saturday of Food, movies and A gadget

Saturday came and quite a lot had happened, but the highlight of the day was when my man happily rewarded something for himself for this Christmas. Originally, we were supposed to go to Mall of Asia, but since we had breakfast at Alpha Land, we instead decided to spend our day at Glorietta Makati.

Our breakfast, we both ordered the same thing, but for my drinks I chose Ice tea. Their hashbrown was sa makunat, for a breakfast item, this is not how it should have been. For our main dish, we always have our favorite longganisa meal.

Overall, this is how much we spent for our meal.

As soon as we arrived at Parksquare, we headed to Data Blitz to buy something.

We arrived just in time because he was looking for a specific color and at that time, it was THE only color available. Just before us was a middle aged couple, also wanting to buy the same color that he wanted. Timing couldn’t be more perfect~

A major upgrade to his old Fat PS3, upon purchasing the staff will discuss about the warranty for the unit and other inquiries that you may have or not know. But since my man is experienced and knows his stuff, there wasn’t much to ask about handling the unit. Major warning was just to be extra careful inserting the disk as there is a tendency to be jammed if not careful.

Testing the unit, I was silently admiring the gaming device, aside from the color, it just looks so sleek and sexy. My man chose red and if I were to buy a PS3 too? I would most definitely buy the same color too. The red PS3 is a matte finish, really pretty. There was also an American man buying a blue PS3, I’m pretty sure Data Blitz was very happy yesterday.

He also bought the Mortal Kombat 9, US version (the US version is a bit pricier compared to the Asian version). When you pay in cash, you get to have discount. I’m not sure how much he paid for everything, but comparing the price at Toy Kingdom and Data Blitz? he got a good deal from his purchases.

After buying, my man wanted to canvass LCD TV’s, so we went to SM Makati, Appliance center. There were so many choices. We chanced upon this Samsung area, where they were letting people try out the Samsung 3D TV. I was left breathless and it was so realistic.

Our favorite part was the ocean, it looked so real, so real that it’s as if the water will really hit your face, LOL! The glasses were quite unique too because of this (refer photo below). It has an installed mini sound system

I was surprised to see that the construction area was finished with the hallway area.

We went to Glorietta Cinema to watch Immortals, which was a very bad decision. There were a lot of inconsistencies and and and….. let’s just say that 300 IS over the top waaaay better! I won’t spoil it for you guys, in case you plan to watch. He bought us drinks and some popcorn for our first movie.

Right after the movie, we decided to watch Mission Impossible: Ghost protocol. We first bought some drinks from Quickly. I had the Taro taro and he got the Choco Loco

For our dinner, I was only able to take a picture of my order which was from Smokey’s.

Shall We Dance?

When I was 14, I was pretty normal, loved to play and hang out with my elementary friends. But my little brother, 14 years old loves ballroom dancing. He’s been dancing for 2 years now, and it was only yesterday that I was able to see him dance in a competition. It’s not his first, as he’s (and partner Anna) received a couple of medals already from local and international competitions.

Yesterday’s competition, they won 3rd place, it was a bit disappointing because we all thought they should have won first place or maybe 2nd at least. Regardless, I’m still proud of my brother and was pretty much speechless when I saw him dancing. He looked like a totally different person on stage.

The women wore very colorful and shiny dresses with really bold colors of make-up. They all look beautiful~

Next was my brother, Studio 116. No 197 – Studio 116 is located at LRI Design Plaza, Nicanor Garcia (formerly Reposo), Bel-Air Makati, 1st floor.

I think white is a better choice for a dress, it outstands the other colors, Anna looked like a beautiful swan. Her expression is really elegant too. Of course, I have to give credit to the coach too.

And outside the ballroom, was this beautiful scenery. I wished that my man was there with me though :(

A few people, when they hear the word Ballroom, they associate it with old people. But these days, it’s a trend for most, not only is it about dancing but it is a fun alternative to exercising. My favorite dance genre’ is the Quick step.

Christmas season is here, and we are to expect heavy traffic, gaaah! A simulation of the traffic in the Metro (photo below).

I’m so looking forward for tomorrow’s date with Martin, we’ll be going to MOA to shop, eat and watch IMMORTAL! Yippeee!

Of Christmas wishes–please come true

In the spirit of Christmas, and just a few days left, I will be posting my yearly Christmas wish list once again. It doesn’t hurt really, what’s good about it is that, some of the things I wish for comes true eventually.

First category – Gadgets

I really wish for either of the 2, it’s hard to choose between them really, but both of them are an upgrade to my NIKON L21 digital camera. I still and will always love my digital camera (because it was BF’s gift for me last year). But I still need an upgrade nonetheless, for my blogging and travel photos.

Canon Rebel T3 or T3i in RED (it has to be red)

Nikon 1j1 in PINK! – Do I need to say more why? hehe. But the specs are pretty good too, so it’s not that bad really, and the color is sooo fitting. It actually screams my name! hehe

Asus Eee pc 1215B netbook in matte red – Currently, I share the laptop with my family (which I don’t mind), but of course I eventually need my own, so that I can lug it around during my travel.

Nintendo 3DS Nintendogs + CATS bundle in PINK – for gaming!

My Hello Kitty notebook needs to be upgraded as well. There are actually a lot of planners out there, one of which is the BDJ or Belle De Jour for women, which I wasn’t into that much. But then, there was FILED, the 2012 planner! I love customizing, and this planner is perfect. My favorite part is this….

What’s on your bed? Mine are usually pens, my journal, cellphone and my current read – Eat Pray Love, but most of the time it’s my cat Tabby. My cat has this thing, sleeping on top of my bags every night.

Food post: Shakey’s Shell Pasong Tamo

My little sister and I ended up eating at Shakey’s Shell, Pasong Tamo for our lunch/merienda today. Shakey’s combo meals never fails to fill the tummy without hurting your pockets that much. I’ve tried different branches of Shakey’s, at SM Sucat, SM Bicutan, Megamall, Glorietta and now Pasong Tamo, they all exceptionally have great customer service. They all serve with a smile and are attentive, thumbs up! And for those who are wifi erm…. sniffers, this branch also has free wifi, just ask from the friendly waiters for the password.

The ambiance is pretty cozy, and very spacious which is good. An Evening with Sleeping beauty and a little bit of Make-up and books

During my prep days until grade 3, I used to be in a ballet class, but ever since I was paralyzed I stopped. I’m not fond of ballet shows, but I have watched a couple of shows specially from Lisa Macuja’s.

Last Saturday, mom and my 2 younger siblings, Amanda and Kert and I watched The Sleeping Beauty A Ballet at CCP. We watched the 8PM show, but arrived a few minutes late due to the heavy traffic. We were forced to walk a few meters away from the theater or else it would take forever to get there. There were 2 accidents that happened during our travel.

I’m not sure if it’s just me? but for ballets or stage plays, I would at least expect the main characters to be beautiful (character wise). Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that they were ugly okay? Their just not as what I hoped they would look like.
